Timetable of Tests 

Monday 9th  May 2022	Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar: Paper 1- Short Answer (56 minutes)  Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar: Paper 2- Spelling Test (25 minutes)
Tuesday 10th May 2022	Reading (1 hour 15 minutes)
Wednesday 11th May 2022	Maths Paper 1: Arithmetic (37 minutes)  Maths Paper 2: Reasoning (50 minutes)
Thursday 12th  May 2022	Maths Paper 3: Reasoning (50 minutes)

How will Key Stage 2 SATs be marked?  

The test papers are sent away to be marked. Children will be given standardised scores for Reading, Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar and Maths. 

Test scores have been reported as ‘scaled scores’.

What is meant by ‘scaled scores’? 

• 100 will always represent the ‘national standard’. 

• Each pupil’s raw test score will therefore be converted into a score on the scale, either at, above or below 100. 

•The scale will have a lower end point somewhere below 100 and an upper end point above 100. 

• A child who achieves the ‘national standard’ (a score of 100) will be judged to have demonstrated sufficient knowledge in the areas assessed by the tests; a child awarded a scaled score of more than 100 is judged to have exceeded the national standard and demonstrated a higher than expected knowledge of the curriculum for their age; a child awarded a scaled score of less than 100 is judged to have not yet met the national standard and performed below the expectation for their age. 

• Each child receives: 

• A raw score (number of raw marks awarded); 

• A scaled score in each tested subject; 

• Confirmation of whether they attained the national standard.

Results will be shared with you when we receive these; this is usually towards the end of July.

How will my child be assessed in writing? 

Writing is teacher assessed using descriptors set by the government. To achieve the expected standard, children’s work must show examples of all of the descriptors in samples of their writing. 

How to support your child 

It is essential that your child attends school every day and is on time.  Students will still have access to breakfast club before their tests and we aim to make the morning as normal as possible. 

The weekend before the tests, please support your child to relax. Make sure that they have an early night and feel fully rested for the week ahead.
