Writing to the Whitley Warriors!

This term in English, Year five have been looking at different types of writing. For our creative project we decided write letters — and we’ve had a very exciting reason to practice! This year we have discovered ice hockey, so we decided to write letters to some of our favourite players.

We learned how to start a letter, create good questions to find out new facts, and tell the players why they inspire us. Some children even looked up fun facts about their chosen team or player before writing. Everyone worked hard to make their letters look lovely and sound polite and full of enthusiasm!

The best part? The players have seen the letters and are planning to reply to them. They have put them on display in their locker room. There might even be an opportunity for a school visit or to see a game one day soon! It has been amazing to connect with the team through our writing.

We’re proud of our letters and hard work — and who knows? Maybe one day, one of us will be out there on the ice too!
