Exciting Ice Hockey Visit Inspires Our Year 5 Learner!

Last week, our school was buzzing with excitement as we welcomed some special guests—an ice hockey player and coach from Whitley Warriors—who came to share their passion for the sport with our learners. From the moment they arrived, the children were eager to learn, ask questions, and even try on real ice hockey equipment!

The session began with a fun and interactive talk, where the player and coach explained what it’s like to train, compete, and work as part of a team on the ice. The children were full of curiosity, asking brilliant questions about how fast players skate, what the hardest part of the game is, and how they stay safe during matches. The player’s stories about teamwork, perseverance, and the importance of practice captivated everyone.

One of the highlights of the visit was the equipment demonstration. Learners had the chance to try on helmets, gloves, and protective pads—much to their delight! Many were surprised at how heavy the gear was and gained a new appreciation for the strength and skill needed to play the sport.

To top it all off, the children were thrilled to receive signatures from the visiting player. They also got told that if they ever go to a game they will be able to meet the whole team.

The visit left our learners inspired, excited, and eager to learn more about ice hockey. A huge thank-you to our amazing guests for giving the children such a memorable experience and showing them the value of determination, teamwork, and following their passions.
