Earthquakes | Group 3

This week Group 3 have been learning about earthquakes.

As a fun little activity, pupils were asked to construct building out of spaghetti and marshmallows. They had to make their buildings as strong and sturdy as possible so they could withstand an earthquake.

After placing their creations on top of some jelly, they then had to shake the trays to mimic an earthquake and assess the damage to their buildings using the Mercalli Intensity Scale.

Although some damage was done to all the buildings, the children managed to make them strong enough to survive their earthquakes mostly intact!
