Our School Sensory Room: A Safe Space for Regulation, Calm and Success

We are proud to share how our Sensory Room continues to support learners who need time and space to regulate their emotions during the school day. The room provides a calm, welcoming environment where children can reset and return to learning, feeling more settled.
Learners can use the space to take part in sensory circuits, which include simple movement and calming activities designed to help their emotions and sensory needs. Gentle calm music plays throughout the room, creating a peaceful atmosphere that many learners find reassuring.
A lovely feature of the space is our personalised windows, painted with the Zones of Regulation. These colourful visuals help learners identify how they are feeling and choose the strategies that will help them move back to the Green Zone.
Most importantly, the Sensory Room serves as a safe space where learners know they are welcome and supported. Whether they need a moment of quiet, a place to reset, or a guided sensory circuit, the room offers a nurturing environment that puts their wellbeing first.
We are proud of the positive impact this space continues to have on our learners’ emotional regulation, readiness to learn, and overall school experience.
