Lindisfarne in English

In English in Lindisfarne, we have been looking at Poetry. We tied this in with Black History Month and have been looking at a range of poetry from different poets.

We looked at the techniques that poets use and analysed this in some poems. We had a go at thinking of our own similes, metaphors and onomatopoeic lines.

On Friday we looked at “It would not be very good” by Benjamin Zephaniah. After sharing our thoughts and feelings towards the poem, we created our own, using Benjamin’s version as a base.

Miss Hunter was really impressed at the quality of poems and wanted to share a couple with you;

It would not be very good, if people told you to go home.

It would not be very good, if people wrote the same poem.

It would not be very good, if we lived in the same place (and played all of the same games)

It would not be very good, if we all won the same race

It would not be very good, if we couldn’t join in.

It would not be very good, if we all had the same grin.

It would not be very good, if we all didn’t care.

It would not be very good, if we all didn’t share.

It would not be very good, if we all had the same mother.

It would not be very good, if we didn’t all like each other.

George

It would not be very good, if people told me to go home.

It would not be very good, if we all had the same moan.

It would not be very good, if we all had the same colour hair.

It would not be very good, if we all could not share.

It would not be very good, if we all had the same mother.

It would not be very good, if we were like one another.
